Ripples and Rising Tides is the output of a two-year research conducted by the Crispin B. Beltran Resource Center (CBBRC).
The research traces the roots of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in the Philippines, which remains among the programs of the Philippine Government to supposedly attract foreign direct investment, stimulate industrial growth and generate employment.
The research also documents the efforts of workers, labor institutions and organizations to organize unions and workers organizations as a means of confronting the issues they face: lack of job security, low wages, etc. These efforts are made despite the climate of repression that exist within these enclaves.
The research was made by the CBBRC in coordination with the Ecumenical Insitute for Labor Education and Research (EILER), the Workers Assistance Center (WAC), through the support of the Stichting Onderzoek Multinationale Ondernemingen (SOMO).
